Jim Manske (1955-2024)

For more than 43 years, Jim and Jori Manske have been partners both in life and work. As co-creators of peaceworks, they offer training, mediation, facilitation, organizational development, consulting and mentoring. They have been working with a variety of businesses, community groups, government, NGO's, private groups and individuals for decades. They are both Certified Trainers for the Center for Nonviolent Communication (cnvc.org) and have been leaders in offering NVC to the world.

They co-authored Pathways to Liberation: A Matrix of Self-Assessment along with two colleagues, a tool used globally by those seeking to become certified trainers. Jori and Jim enjoy supporting candidates as they journey toward certification, Jori as a mentor and Jim as an assessor. 

In 2021, Puddledancer Press published Jim's book, Pathways to Nonviolent Communication.

Jim Manske Remembrance & Memorial Session

This heartfelt memorial session honors the life and legacy of beloved CNVC trainer Jim Manske (1955–2024). Led by his wife Jori Manske and close friend River Dunavin, the gathering brought together friends, colleagues, and members of the NVC community to share memories, mourn, and celebrate Jim’s enduring impact. Jim passed away peacefully on December 22, surrounded by family and love.

Instead of doing an "apology" using the NVC framework, you can do a "do over" to express regret. This roleplay exercise shows you how. You'll be talking about your needs that were not met by what you did, expressing what you wanted to say instead of what you said, and more.

When Marshall designed NVC, he said that the purpose of it was to create a quality of connection, that inspires compassionate giving and receiving. The zero step is awakening or remembering your intention to support compassionate giving and receiving. Do this practice exercise to awaken this intention and to roleplay with it in your heart.
